When you go out onsite and need to check your connections - this is a handy tool to have. I don't use it much but it's invaluable when I need it. There are more sophisticated versions but I just need to check cable connections.
I would highly recommend this tester to anyone who is on a budget but needs a reliable tester to check network cables. I did not use the tone generator function, but it worked great with the included remote for identifying the cables. The included carrying case keeps everything together, and its light weight makes it a welcome addition to nearly any shoestring budget IT kit.
Nice packaging to neatly keep everything together. It supports standard ethernet and coaxial (comes with adapter plugs). The TRENDware Cable Tester works as advertised. Very happy with the purchase. The "auto" mechanism to successively test the various wires works well. The tone generator is very effective in figuring out which cable to connect - once you get to other end of it somewhere else in the house (this save you from having to switch to another tone generator). Also was a reasonable deal. Recommended.
I'm very pleased with this tester. And it works as advertised. It is sturdy. It is easy to use. I'm glad to own it. Note that I've only used it to test Cat5/6 cables.
We were able to use existing wiring and not start for scratch. It made checking out an existing network very easy. This product was very helpful. The previous reviews really helped in the decision to purchase this item. This tool saved us time and money. We were able to check out existing connectins as well as new ones. I would suggest if you need to check out the system connections alone or with a patner this is the tool to use. Thanks for a gerat product at a great price.
